Of course that's your opinion because you've trapped yourself inside the box. The "raw power of empirical reason" must not be that strong since most people in the world wouldn't agree with you and would see my reasoning as quite rational.
There's a reason those who believe in god have to keep praying for faith and strength. It's hard work believing in the irrational.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
