We are all good. the whole family and I went to the new universal resort, which is built like a 1950/60's contemporary resort, it was great. (For the white guests anyway,) the black folk were made to eat at a separate restraunt, (around back) dragged out of their rooms at night by mock linchmobs, periodically fire hosed by staff dressed as 1950's police officers, but I guess it was all in good fun, and apart of the nostalgia built into the themed resort honoring the 'good ole days.'
I didn't mind too much as I at a glance look white enough to pass.. Although at check out one of the staff started speaking Spanish to me to see if he could trick me into speaking Spanish back to him, (a lot of Spanish people think I am Spanish for some reason) but I called him a racial slurr (all with in keeping with the 60's theme of course) and said "learn to speak American if you want to keep your job here sport!" (With and extra effort on my southern accent) We all laughed and that was it.
All and all I give the resort 4 out of 5 stars. I was a little put off by the midnight cross burnings (being a Christian and all) and the mandatory smoking we were all forced to partake in. It was in all public areas and the hotel rooms themselves. It's been a few weeks and I'm down to two packs a day and 10 pieces of that gum.. Hopefully by my birthday I can transition to snuff or chewing tobacco. I had no idea how expensive smoking was till now.
How are you?
