But it was obvious from LostLocke's response to your OP that he doesn't feel that way. None of us here besides you feels that way.
Life is rare and precious. It took billions of years, the death of billions of stars, and the right conditions for it to happen. Take advantage of it, don't regret that you are one of the rare ones.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
