It's not only that, but I feel like when a religious majority claims persecution, it's a way of saying 'I'm really upset my religion doesn't dictate how society should live, damn why are we not a theocracy again?'.

An easy example to prove my point:
Judge - Gay marriage is now legal
Christian - Oh no! They approved, they are going against my religious freedom, now I have to accept gay sinners into society and I can't refuse to interact with them for being gay, what a shame...
Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you
