Our brains are wired to accept lots of things that aren't true and defend them bitterly, even when we logically understand that they're false (example: phobias). If you can replace some of the unproductive ideas in your subconscious with productive ones, then all the better. You can enjoy life more and leave a worthwhile legacy for whoever is still here, regardless of what it means in the greater scheme of things.
I enjoy life because I have always convinced myself that it is there to be enjoyed. That may be shallow or facile, but it doesn't dampen my enjoyment one bit. How many people actively seek to be disillusioned with life, or determined not to enjoy it?

Luke: You don't believe in the Force, do you?
Han Solo: Kid, I've flown from one side of this galaxy to the other, and I've seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen *anything* to make me believe that there's one all-powerful Force controlling everything. 'Cause no mystical energy field controls *my* destiny. It's all a lot of simple tricks and nonsense.
