Religion strives for truth, yes. If something can be stated that doesn't change with fashion, then that statement is said to be true. I don't know why you'd have a problem with that.

If it is in us then YOUR superstition is not a requirement for evolution to occur. Our species was around long before the Hebrews and even the Canaanites whom they Hebrews stole their characters from. Your religion is a spin off of the Hebrews and the Hebrews are a spinoff of polythiesm. Our species was capable of cruelty and compassion when we were painting deer gods on French cave walls.
Your religion was not around 50,000 years ago, much less 200,000 years ago. I have pointed this SCIENTIFIC FACT out to even Buddhists and Hindus.

Life does not need to be explained with ANY super natural being. There is no cosmic superman vs a cosmic guy with a pitchfork making bets over the neurons in your brain. No magic invisible man gave you a gang manual to justify his existence.
Our morality as a species is not in us because it is matches your personal god belief as to the source of that morality. It is in us because that is what evolution does.
