Perhaps consider the possibility that people might choose their attire in ways that aren't based around making themselves more attractive to other people. I don't know about you, but unless I'm specifically going into a setting where I need to look presentable I just want to wear clothes that are comfortable for the setting I'm in: I don't owe the rest of the world a designer look. I wear t-shirts and jeans a lot, and some of those shirts have game or comic characters on them, and that isn't for the benefit of everyone else.

Seems like a problem with you, judging people based solely on a single look at their appearance, than with the hobby. Maybe try not extrapolating a person's entire personality off of the fact they like Megaman next time?
