That's pretty thin. Wouldn't it have been easier to just edit out that one mention of a guy called moses and leave it at that?
You've already said you don't care if it's true, as long as it helps christianity along. The exodus thing is not doing that by a long shot, and this would have been easily cured by not mentioning moses at all.
