Quote:Isn't that little exaggerated it's like saying that islam will take over europe in 50 years which has been proven to take far more time than that, also hispanic is not a race
I did not say nor mean to imply 'Hispanic' is a race. I try to avoid using the term 'race' as it is imprecise.I have never been able to find a univerersally accepted definition of the word. To me 'Hispanic' refers to a fairly vague collection of Spanish speaking ethnicities. In the US, it seems to refer mainly to anyone either personally or with with descendants from anywhere South of Texas.
As for being an exaggeration, I've come across the claim several times on line, and it seems a not unreasonable proposition .I have no investement either way in the truth of the claim ----In fify years I"ll be 112, so may be dead.

Deep Australian Englsih is called 'strine'. we have an abiding hatred of the vowel 'a' ,ommiting it entirely, or replacing it with 'i' whenever possible.
Hence 'pay day Friday' ='pidi Fridy'
Spray painter = 'spry pinter'
Wayne= whine
We aslo like to add 'ie' to common words:
Christmas = Chrisie
Present= pressie
[swimming] costume= cossie
Woolworths=Woolies.
Hungry Jacks (Burger King) is Hungry's
McDonalds is prounced Macca's .

Many Australians also suffer from the rising inflection, whereby a statement becomes a question. EG "I've been shopping? I met Sue?"
We aslo like to run words together EG;
Emma chissit? (how much is it?)
We refer to Gloria Soames (glorious homes)
A very funny and informative book is 'Let Stalk Strine' by Afferbeck Lauder ('Let's Talk Australian' by Alphabetical Order)
Disclaimer:Aussiess love it but it gives everyone else a headache.

Quote:Afferbeck Lauder was the pseudonym used by Alastair Ardoch Morrison (born Melbourne 21 September 1911 - died 15 March 1998), an Australian graphic artist and author who in the 1960s documented Strine in the song With Air Chew and a series of books beginning with Let Stalk Strine (Ure Smith, Sydney, Australia, 1965). Morrison illustrated the books and also used the pseudonym Al Terego.
