I just hope cooler heads prevail in Canada and they don't go fucking insane for several years like we did. Actually, there's still a sizable part of America's voting bloc that is still insane.

"we" didn't go insane. Rather certain interests exploited the opportunity to cynically promote insanity because if insanity, bulk of the population would become less vigilant in scrutinizing some actions these interests have long wished to undertake. in essence these interest sought to shatter the existing convention of international conduct and power balance in the belief that america's appearant preponderance in hard and soft power would enable her to come out of the resulting geopolitical chaos much further ahead than she went in.
Canada has neither america's appearant power nor her hegemonic ambitions to have anything to gain by going insane. The very worst she might do is to pass some discriminatory domestic legislation against some ethnic group perceived to be more susceptible to becoming terrorists.
