Why is that the only sensible conclusion? A stranger to Christianity coming to the Bible for the first time and reading it thoroughly would not, I'm sure, come to the conclusion that the character called 'God' was at all good.
Surely, after reading of all the vile and heinous acts born out of anger, a vastly over inflated ego, petty jealousy, homophobia and all the rest, it would be illogical to conclude that this character was in any way 'good'! Unless of course you have a vastly different definition of the word from mine.
