Yeah, in the context you mentioned, we often see it as empty as well. As in a used car salemans walks up, smiles, and says "Call me Billy".

(all those languages mentioned are part of a larger subset...while ours is technically there as well so many cultures and conventions got jumbled....it;s easy to see how a disconnect was formed. A majority of english words are actually of germanic origin. So take solace in that, we liked your vocabulary...just not the way you used it.
