Maybe to test others, to confuse the skeptics... to be honest it doesn't say in the Bible and it is really hard to understand what others are thinking.

You are really misunderstanding the point of contention here. Namely, that you have no biblical basis for what you're asserting, and hence it is just a thing that you're making up to plug a logical gap in the written story.
Honestly you are going to have to trust me, I have no prove that I am not making it up, so in other words no matter what I say you will always think I made it up. It is almost like you know me more than I do.
