Angel:
Your arguement is not evidence that God exists. You have simply asked a question which is hard to answer, and then claimed that it must be God's doing - well I am going to attempt to answer it.
Firstly, may I say, humans are not the only intelligent lifeform. Dolphins are extremely intelligent for example.
Now to answer your question....
The history of evolution has never been a certainty. The development of species hangs on a knife edge - will the right mutations occur to provide the right adaptations we need to exist? Will we still be able to survive in future, as conditions are changing? Will a big predator come along soon and make us extinct?
The development of humans was never a certainty. Without 'luck' we may have been extinct long ago. We were lucky that beneficial mutations occured, and we are lucky that we have never experienced an extinction event, like the dinosaurs did. Our evolution to become the dominant species was not God's doing. We were simply lucky enough to develop the right adaptations at the right time - thanks partly to beneficial mutations, which are totally random.
Your argument is invalid in the sense that only the most intelligent lifeforms (I use intelligence loosely in this example) could create a belief system, or religion. Therefore, if caterpillars were the most intelligent lifeform, they would claim that their God created THEM in his image, and would use the exact same argument you are using. You are attributing our position as the dominant intelligent species to God - but it could only be the dominant intelligent species who could create religion. Again, I use 'intellgent' loosely.
