I got rid of my Facebook account in part because of the sheer ridiculous amount of inane bible posts, pictures of the White House with a caption reading "Put GOD Back in This House!", endless prayer requests, thanking god for husband, kids, car, job, parents, new pony, and on and on and on it goes. While it is perfectly fine for people to post their dreary Christian admonishments, memes, and so forth (I never said a cross word even if I did think it was a total crock), I couldn't post anything related to atheism without immediately drawing the ire of seemingly everybody. You have to keep in mind though that I live in Mississippi and all the people that were on my friend list also reside here. I just got sick of the double standard. It's okay for you to rub your belief system in my face, but I can't even make a post about my non-belief without inviting a disturbing level of vitriol? It really isn't so surprising though. Their behavior is typical of hypocritical Christians that espouse the you-must-tolerate-mine-but-the-hell-with-yours mindset so common today.
So I said fuck it and deleted my account.
