For me, history has been more persuasive than philosophy. Christians can always fall back on things like "the Lord works in mysterious ways" when confronted with evidence that the theology doesn't make sense. I've tried to learn as much as possible about the development of the Bible, Judaism, and Christianity. It seems like different techniques work for different people.
