You can be nothing or anything and everything except a theist when you declare yourself as atheist. And yes you can be a boy, a girl, a male female or anything in between but not a theist when you call yourself an atheist. So already you need to know what a theist is before to deny to be one yourself as atheist.

The label is irrelevent, I'll grant that much. What the ascriptions to that label mean however is not. I've lacked any sort of belief or indeed concept of a 'God' since day 1 of my existence. I've always been an atheist; I've never once been a theist. Every single God concept that's been proposed to me has been found wanting and has not passed my minimum standard of evidence which I require to make me believe there might be something to it.
