But to put your situation in context, remember, there are 1.5 billion Muslim parents teaching their children Muslim doctrine and 1.1 billion Hindus teaching their children Hindu doctrine. I'll bet you have no problems considering all those parents wrong.

As far as the fear of Hell, how much time do you spend fearing all the other hells of other religions?
Give it all time, and continue to properly apply skepticism to all religious claims, and most of these issues will pass.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
