Wiki notes the existence of snake charmers in Haiti, and I would suspect that implies indigenous poisonous serpents, as the excitement of watching a snake charmer is considerably reduced if the serpent is nontoxic.

So we have deadly serpent handling in Haiti too.

I'm pretty satisfied, as I trust most everyone else here is, that Drich is incorrect.
