Isn't it more useful to classify religions by their descent, rather than their internal rules? So Judaism, Christianity and Islam are Semitic religions, but so is the worship of Baal and Mammon. The 'Big Three' are Abrahamic and so then are Satanism and Rastafarianism . Shia, Sunni and Sufi are Islamic religions, Mormonism and Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians, but so are Gnostics. Santería is a Catholic religion, but also an African Traditional Religion. This is a rational system of classification. Using the internal tenants of the religions, which are often arbitrary, is not.
