You dismiss egyption religion because it is no longer practiced (incidentally it is by some new agists) and then ignore the fact that you no longer follow early Christian practices (including those followed by the Jew Jesus). Of course you could also say that jesus' practices were invalid and you reasoning would at least be consistent.Captain Scarlet Wrote:It's never been a race, steady as she goes, many down through the ages have predicted the end of christianity but we are still here in all our imperfection, we are here by the hundreds of millions and going no where because we are the bride of Christ and have His undivided attention and protection.Godschild Wrote:They no longer practice these beliefs that is why they have been dismissed.Oh dear! And Protestants don't practice the beliefs of Catholicism and orthodox Christianity and before that the practices of Judaism, as the earliest Christians were just an ultra orthodox Jewish sect. Religions change and die all the time just like other natural phenomena. Just because Christianity isn't dead yet doesn't mean it is true. The fastest growing religion is islam does that make it true?
My response was to the statement underlined. As for protestants not practicing as the catholics do well DUHHhhh. Why would they each see some things differently and yes some are major points, we both believe in Christ and His ability to save and that is a major point all true christians believe.
There is a commonality that the nation of Israel and the church share and that is God the creator of the universe. We also share the belief of the Messiah each sees it differently but still the same being. We share the OT and believe it's the Word of God. We do share a lot of the ancient christian practices, they may look some what different but that has to do with the times at hand, in reality they are the same and serve the same purpose they just have a different look.
Jesus never practiced a religion that would be utterly silly and He Himself is not a religion He is God so why would He worship Himself. The only beings I know who worship themselves are human beings, how noble we believe we are.
As for the Eygptian religions I did not dismiss them I said they had been dismissed and long before I was born and the same goes for the others you mentioned though the Emperor of Japan was quite recent.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
