I've lived enough among Catholics to see how it works. They can be persuaded to eschew birth control but the sex urge is too strong to put aside. The result is a whole barnyard full of Catholic cattle.
Maybe that's the idea. The guys in the funny hats might lack enlightenment but they're not as dumb as they look.
