Regarding the prophesies again, they were trying so hard to make jesus fulfil them that:
1) He fulfilled things that weren't even making predictions
2) They had him doing things that didn't even make sense, or were mistranslations of prophesies, because they misinterpreted what they thought were prophesies
In other words, they copied out the back of the book and still got it wrong.
