Because the Unites States constitution guarantees the rights of citizens to express their opinion - and that's what WBC does.

Free speech isn't just for speech you like - in fact, popular speech doesn't need protection. The First Amendment is all about protecting dissent. That's what sets us apart from other countries. Good thing for us atheists too because without that protection, the Christian majority would declare us offensive and then we wouldn't be allowed to express our opinion in public.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
