Never confuse apologist slogans with reality.
If Islam were the "religion of peace", radical Muslims would be the most peaceful people on the planet.
If the Enlightenment and democratic ideals were the outgrowth of Christian teachings, the Dark Ages would have been the most Enlightened and free society imaginable. For some strange reason, it took some 1,500 years for "Christian ideals" to even surface and its only with the erosion of Christian power that these ideals have taken hold.
Yet reality has no impact on apologetic slogans. Such is the power of True Scotsmen.
