There are slight differences. Resume's are basically just summaries of my skills, education, experience, and all that nonsense. My resume is only about 2 pages long. But my CV would be significantly longer, providing a more detailed synopsis of those listed above as well as backgrounds, teaching and research experience, awards, honors, and more.
In the States, we generally use a resume, unless we are applying for academic, education, scientific, or research positions.
Really? I've never heard CV used here at all. It's just a word in British novels that means resume.
I've seen people include a resume plus a portfolio of projects though.
