Well, it's all very complicated to explain without decades of study and a lifetime of dedicated introspection, but it's all to do with deep symbolism and meaning on multiple planes that we can never understand. As ancient philosophers - whose names I won't even bother to mention because you'll only mock them - told us, it's all a metaphor for... something. Some deep innate yearning for the mystical 'other' which we can all sense at birth but which we lose as we become indoctrinated into western god-denying society. Yeah, that sounds profound.
