But that's rather because the writers of the bible knew cruzifixion to be the most dishonering form of Roman executions. It fit nicely into the legend they constructed.
In the Babylonian Talmud the Jews brag about how they killed Jesus using five (5) different methods. They were really ticked off.

Since we are fully grown adults people should be educated about the subjects that they comment about. Educated English speakers should know that there were no written "J" words before the 17th Century. Consequentially it's silly to post links about that every time it's cited. Now what were the real names of those "John" characters that "Jesus" hung out with?
