That analogy was no longer altogether satisfying at age 12,so I asked again. I received a simple ,definitive, unarguable explanation,used by Catholics to this very day: "No one understands The Trinity,it's a mystery of faith and it's doctrine,you just believe it". Clear as mud.
Catholics consider the Trinity perhaps the most difficult theological concept. Transubstantiation is also pretty subtle. Drove an already deeply disturbed Martin Luther right over the edge.
