The Reasons why "Just Following Jesus" Doesn't work

I am going to leave you with Jesus' words on the matter you just spoke of John 8:43-47 Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. 46 Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? 47 Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.”

You have to presuppose it's true in order to believe it's true. You have to work backwards from the conclusion, instead of following the evidence where it leads.

Satan was a murderer from the beginning? Really? Who did he kill before Yahweh sentenced two people to death for disobedience? Or drowned a whole world because of vague evilness?

Sin is a useless term. There may be some overlap between sin and evil, but you have a guy claiming that consenting same sex adults making love is an abomination while allowing rapists to marry their victims. Or allowing a warlord to carry young women off to be violated while having their family's blood on his hands.

You have ridiculous ideas like thoughts equaling actions, which is so easy to disprove I'm surprised anyone even had the gall to write that down.

The bible is a book of a god's repeated failures. He makes a garden with two people who don't know right from wrong, and tells them not to eat a fruit just because. It goes bad. he drowns the world because he doesn't like how things are going, but it goes bad once again. He sends his son to die, then watches as his followers kill each other over the proper way to worship him, while the rest of the world watches from the outside.

Am I "of the devil"? I don't know. I don't see the problem, aside from the idea that your god is going to punish me for existing unless I grovel before him without really knowing if he even exists.
