I think that ignorance is the main reason that it seems that so many American Christians don't understand the advantage of the separation of church and state. Yes, that is harsh but ignorance, by itself, can be rectified. The problem is that many seem to enjoy being ignorant.
I think current 21st century American Christianity NEEDS a good purge, showing all the liberal, backsliding, scripture cherry picking divorce whores the door would strengthen the movement.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
