When you commit a violent crime like that and hurt someone to that extent, society needs to keep itself safe from you going out and doing it again to someone else.
I've been accused of a lot of things in life, but being a person with a lack of empathy isn't one of them.
Also, comparing a prostitute being stoned to death to a violent criminal being kept behind bars is asinine.
