There's no reason to speak of the laws of thermodynamics as if the universe/nature has some sort of goal. Describing how things are and what trends or tendencies exist says nothing of a purpose or meaning.
As I said in OP, AGI development may be our objective/goal, and nature does seem to have goal of entropy maximization. (Entropy maximization as a goal/objective is common in many many scientific research papers)
Objectivity is in nature, and science likes objectivity.
Moreover, objectivity does not necessitate intension, or some God thing.
I used to think life was purposeless for a little while, even when I used to be a theist. (I became an atheist about 3 months ago)
But, I saw new evidence, and changed my mind, into "life may have purpose, and that is probably to build AGI".
We must strive to change our minds given new evidence!
