Why does there need to be a God?

The thought of humans thinking we are so special is fucking absurd to me.

But we are indeed 'so special'.  It's not some sort of vain conceit, it's a simple, observable fact. 

We are the only species that:

-Makes our environment unlivable.

-Kills off appreciable numbers of our own species.

-Crowds together in such densities that the crowding itself is unhealthy.

-Destroys so much of our resources that gathering more of these resources poisons us, the environment and the resources themselves.

-Deliberately migrates to habitats that are so unfriendly that we have to invest enormous resources and energy simply to survive.

And dozens of other adorable little habits that makes uniquely special. 

So, yes - we are so special.  So special that it's fucking terrifying.
