Its our tax dollars, if we think college would educate our children better then NCLB it should be our say on how the money is spent. But NCLB probably made some private company rich and got nice fatty contracts, all at the same we ask ourselves, "Is our children learning" lol.
That money would instead go into the various newly created State Depts. of Education. You're not going to get it back, & you're only going to have a tiny bit more control over where it goes than you do now. It would also more than likely put my state, Florida, as well as Nevada into the unwanted position of having to start collecting a state income tax.
And don't give me any of that flat tax bullshit. It looks like a great idea till you do the math & then you realize why NeoCons have such a hard-on for it.
States have their own education departments already. You need to look at the much larger scale. I think the fed education just sets curriculum for state levels and things of that nature. So what can the 70 billion be doing????? If only 5000 employees, do the math. So why such a large budget, if our children are not learning any better, somethings fucky.
No flat tax. Tax goods and services, not income. Luxury items, perhaps even some sort of VAT system.
