Well, in my case, it started out that way. I went through a very painful point in my life and I couldn't find an answer I could bring myself to believe when I asked how god could allow it to happen.
Since then, though, I've had a deal with any supernatural being out there: prove to me that you exist and I'll serve you. So far, nobody has taken me up on that offer, so I see no reason to believe in any supernatural being.
IF there were a god I could not be as forgiving of it as you seem to be. It would not be able to buy me off by just sorting out my problems. This is also my problem with christians/mohammedans they would actually be happy, to let others burn for all eternity in ovens as long as they are ok, their thinking sickens me.
Well, my personal problems, all that did was open my mind to the idea that there might not be a god. Before that, gods existence was something that was always a given for me; I just never questioned it until then. When I opened my mind to that idea, I couldn't expel that idea even if I wanted to (and I don't think I would want to anyway).
