The impression I got from San Diegans is they don't tend to care about religion/non-religion that much and like to focus on the virtues of humanity. My point is that generalizing an entire group of people is ridiculous. I'm a San Diegan, and extremely laid-back, and I do want to enjoy life, but obviously I'm pretty passionate about some things, including my secularism. There are lots of atheist and skeptic meetups here.
That basically sums up at at least 40% of the posts on this website.
I was not aware of any atheist or skeptic groups in San Diego County (what's Carlsbad known for? not a city I know a lot about) as I never got the impression that San Diego took religion much too seriously other than an occasional Sunday affair.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.
