Yeah, it's interesting. I'm not sure. Of course, the only reason we even need the word atheist is because a large proportion of the world is caught up in insane delusions. I could see an argument for solidarity of having a symbol, until such time as its not required any more.
I find it hard to gauge what the reaction would be, but I wonder if it would help with coming out to see people displaying it unashamedly. And people would have a harder time demonising someone who is acting perfectly reasonably, and not how their pastor tells them atheists act.
I think I'd be happy to wear one in theory, although in England it's not a big deal.
What about Jesus impaled on a giant penis instead of a cross? Or maybe the A thing, that's cool.
