So I watched 50 Shades of Grey, because I have decided it's time for me to be a total rip-off of Cinema Snob and his crew. I have decided, now that I have some time and money, to do some midnight reviews, where I can.
Why not start with this?
Well.
What do I say? I mean. What DO I say?? The theatre was packed with women. Shrieking, squealing, tittering women. No, not girls. Women.
We're talking like...30-40 year-olds on average.
The movie was...well. It was what I expected. A very chicky chick-flick. With sexual overtones. And by overtones I mean sexual themes being blasted through a fucking foghorn.
If you've read the book, you know the plot. If you haven't...
Good.
That said, the acting was actually pretty damn good. I found it rather amusing overall. Not just the movie; the experience! Listening to the shuddering gasps and sighs and giggles of a bunch of horny housewives and soccer moms was hilarious. But the movie itself, well, the characters weren't bad. I didn't hate them, certainly. The plot was...well, it's bland and boring. It's better than Twilight, I guess, at least in its writing. I didn't hate the characters, like I said.
But, for being something that's SUPPOSED to be about S&M and a switch-to-switch thing...it's so unbelievably mild. It's just... It's bland.
I can't say it's bad. It's just dull.
But let's be honest, was anyone here expecting any differently?
