The poll question is this: Do you generally enjoy theists being on this forum?
If you answer YES, do you enjoy it becomes it gives you someone to argue with? Do you enjoy it because you feel like you can prove them wrong? Do you enjoy it because you like to have respectful discussions about deep topics with people who have a different point of view? Do you enjoy it because it brings a little drama to the forum and it's fun to watch? Do you enjoy it for any reason I have not listed here? If so, what?
If you answer NO, do you not enjoy it because you can't stand anyone who does not share your views regarding the existence of God, even if they don't talk about it? Do you not enjoy it because you feel like they always end up talking about their beliefs and it's annoying? Do you not enjoy it because you'd rather this just be an exclusive haven for like minded folks? Do you not enjoy if for any other reason I have not listed here? If so, what?
If you answer "other" or "it depends on the theist" please explain what you mean by other, and please explain what type of theist you would generally enjoy and which type you generally would not.
I cannot answer to the "general" sentiment here, but I can answer for myself.
I have a friend who is a Progressive Christian. I love debating with her. Matter of fact, she would probably be welcome here simply because she has a way of engaging in healthy debates without name calling or mud slinging. I would love to invite her here. I may just do that.
Moving on to answer your questions... I answered "Other".
1. In general, I think some of my debates with the theists on here have been good-natured. Others, not at all. There are, in particular, two theists on this forum that do nothing but look to cause discord and strife no matter what topic they post in. For me, that is sad because they are the ones, who I feel, are just looking to argue for the sake of arguing.
2. I'm not particularly out to necessarily prove anyone wrong, although it has happened more times than not. I'm just asking for simple, logical, irrefutable, physical proof that there is the existence of a god, any god. Even Odin or Zeus will do.
3. I want to have meaningful discussions with the theists on this panel, however, when the goal for the theist is to create circular arguments, baseless claims and false accusations, all expectations of reasonableness go right out of the window.
4. Respect is earned, not given. So if a theist wants my respect then they are going to have to earn that. They came here, knowing that they are clearly in the minority of the God concept. They are going to have to do a lot more than quote (read: misquote) from their bible and expect the majority to "just believe".
5. If a theist doesn't talk about their views, how can we know what their views are? Isn't that the point of joining a forum? To talk? Just as there are many deities, there are just as many views.
I answered "other". To answer the final question of what type of theist I enjoy debating most with... the answer would have to be a Progressive Christian, or Pxian, as they are referred to in their community.
