I'm totally down to be health buddies. I'm almost exactly where you are (or were), 6 feet, about 240. Now, I'm pretty broad, have a little bit of muscle, and I don't really bulge anywhere, so 240's not a big strain on my frame. I was as heavy as 275 though, in about my sophomore year of college and again when I got really bad shin splints during my second year of law school and couldn't run/jog for six months (which, roughly, corresponded to the two worst depressions I've ever been in). I've worked out a lot (comparatively), and it's been slow going to get back down to under the good ol' eighth-ton. I don't have any particular weight loss goals other than to keep losing; I suppose I should make one: I would like to get to 225 by the end of the year, with some more muscle. There we go. Solid goal.
Eating wise, I've got some reallllllll bad habits. I've definitely made some progress: I no longer get any calories from drinks except beer and the half-milk half-coffee concoction I drink that offends both milk and coffee lovers. I'm eating a small breakfast every morning (about 250 calories, usually granola bar and banana or sommat). But I'm still really prone to ordering wayyy too much (or, that is, the right amount by mass but all fried and fatty and gross) when I'm out at a restaurant or bar.
My next big step will be to walk the mile-and-a-half to work once the weather gets nice. That'll really help, I think. I said, of course, the same thing last year, and by the time I realized the weather was nice enough to walk, it was already too hot to walk in a suit and tie. So... try try again.

How will we know, when the morning comes, we are still human? - 2D
Don't worry, my friend. If this be the end, then so shall it be.
