I never, until recently lost all those extra pounds (I'm talking weighing 220-230 pounds for 8-9 years). It's a long story, but the gist is that I lost 40 pounds on changing the way I eat, not just dieting. Dieting doesn't work and is only a temporary loss of weight.
I agree entirely. I actually found it easy to maintain my the weight I'd lost for a year and actually lost ten more pounds. Once you understand how to eat and how much you need I don't find it hard to maintain. But losing involves some sacrifice.
Oh, and I actually went up 0.2 pounds this week darn it. But several from the class and I are planning a pot luck at my place in a week or two, and I plan to stay in losing mode hopefully until I weigh 170 but if 175 feels right I'll go with that. I don't really know what a good final goal for me would be, all I know is I want to be light on my feet again and soon.

Just finished telling a friend how I recently bought a "Spiralizer" and I love it:
There's different versions out there, mine is made by Starfrit, cost about $20-$25 CDN.
If you love veggies, it is a great way to get more of them into your diet.
I make the julienned "noodles" out of zucchini and steam them, in lieu of pasta.
Brilliant.
Also great for raw; can make ribbons of cucumber or apple; pretty much anything.
Thanks. I wonder if this is how they make broccoli slaw? Looks like a really good idea.
You betcha. There's some great videos on Spiralizers on YouTube if you want a demo.
I used to make veggie ribbons with a handheld potato-peeler or a mandoline; this is so much better.
