Just tales some planning. You have to frontload the prepwork (and this also means you have to select a menu that works for frontloaded prep). Bonus points if prep can be used for more than one dish (hence all my different pilafs).
I'm Mr. Mom, and Farmer Bob, and I still have time to clown around for you fuckers.... I'm busy too.
A good pattern is -light vegetarian or near vegetarian - heavy meat dish (chicken breast, steak, whatever) -then soup. You only have to repeat that cycle twice in a week and the leftovers go into the next dish or the soup. That leaves one day a week for eating out - or a special meal. I usually make tikka masala on sundays - alot of it. Or grill out in the summer/make pizza in the winter.
Homemade pizza, btw, best quick thing for busy people. Just chop up a bunch of toppings, put em in the fridge, and get a dough culture going in the fridge too. Want a Za? Plop out a peice of the dough, sauce it (made in advance, frozen, and thawed when needed) and pop it in the over for 10-20 minutes depending on the type of crust you've made.
