In theory I'd love a PS4 but I have a problem with RSI and its controllers set me off big time... I can't use them for more than a few minutes with it putting me into absolute agony But it doesn't happen at all with the N64 controllers... which are much more ergonomic. I could probably get third-party controller but it's very hard finding stuff that doesn't set off RSI... pretty much trial and error... so it could be an expensive process, with no guarantee of success but in principle a PS4 appeals to me much more than Nintendo, after they went the Wii route... I just want a console with control pads like the good old days, not all this physical movement stuff... it's fine if you've got a big living room, but not so great if you don't as far as I know; but I could very well be wrong since I'm so long out of the loop, PlayStations are just simple but powerful consoles of the traditional type... ie they don't have Wii-like controllers or xbox movement sensors?
I think the Kinect and Playstation Move proved to be failures so they abandoned them. Nintendo downplayed that with the Wii U except with some games using the gamepad as an aiming mechanism but I think the Switch is going back to the more active roots like the Wii.
My bold.
Bollocks!... it was a nice dream while it lasted
Quote:I'm just really fed up with Sony right now, so even though there are a few PS4-exclusive games I wish I could get on my Xbox One (I'm also a tad irked with Microsoft for buying Rare and keeping it from being bought out by Nintendo like it should have been, and creating huge issues with the rights to games like Donkey Kong Country). But all the problems I have with the PS4 hardware are directly related to how they're actively screwing over the players and trying to milk as much ill-gotten money out of them as possible, and I'm having none of that. Let's hope this delay in making the Switch a viable online system is worth it and Nintendo doesn't make these huge mistakes.
Right... so reading between the lines, that's another thing about the new way; that many games are platform independent these days, except for a few exclusives? To me that sounds pretty cool... but obviously not if you're looking out for exclusives on a system you don't have (I rarely do exclusives in anything on principle... so don't watch netflix originals etc on principle)... because it means you can focus on the games rather than the systems that run them. Against exclusivity I'm basically all for 'open source' stuff and actively go against anything that looks like it's trying to lock you in to a particular ecosystem as it were... so I wouldn't get an iPhone if you paid me etc. So if that open source principle is generally in operation with these new consoles, I'm all for that, and fully understand your frustration when that's not the case... hope it works out for you
