Indeed, seems like there's shooters from all sides of the political spectrum. Sounds to me like your country could do with some gun control.

If someone is determined to kill people there's many other ways to do so, as Timothy McVeigh, the Boston Marathon bombers, or even the terrorists who use trucks to run over people have proven. Gun control isn't going to stop determined murderers and assassins from killing people.

How is this argument still touted? 

You have to admit that easy access to a firearm makes killing people significantly easier than it would be otherwise. And in Virginia, a state where there is no license required to buy or sell guns, no background check required for private gun sales, no law requiring firearms to be registered, no permit required for concealed carry of long guns, and no general ban on open carrying of firearms in public, it is STUPID easy to kill.
