Do I think he says these things to get that base-hate flowing at immigrants? Yeah, I do. He probably does think all illegal immigrants are animals, but that’s not what he said, and the meme is factually (and likely intentionally) incorrect. It was more or at least just as vile. Criminals don't deserve to be called animals .Bad people yes but animals no. It's dehumanizing and as person who has worked with violent offenders i found it vile in the extreme. It's that kind of dehumanization that lead to stuff like "enhanced interrogation"
The truth matters. It shouldn’t be collateral damage of any cause. Saying, “that’s probably what he thinks anyway” is a failure to condemn the same manipulative tactic that the right uses all the time; a tactic we feign disgust over until we’re the ones using it. I notice a lot of that going around lately. I know people have had more than enough of this vindictive, narcissistic, hateful, senile man-baby in a suit, but if we start abandoning our integrity, our own stated values, and the facts, then where are we? Who are we?
I agree with all of this, Tiz, but it’s irrelevant to my point, isn’t it? The meme isn’t claiming that Trump said criminals are animals; it’s claiming that he said undocumented immigrants are animals, which is a false claim (and probably a lie), and should be condemned as such, regardless of which side it came from. This...is an Apple, Tiz. 😋
