That's right, when we read the Bible we are to take it at face value according to the rules of language, and secondly we are to understand the tone of a meaning according to it's setting.
No disagreement here.

No. faith is faith, and it means what it means. Knowing the scriptures does not prop up, or bolster the meaning of that word in any way. If you’re taking the Bible on faith alone, then you can’t logically use its contents as a reason to trust it. That is circular reasoning, as we’ve already talked about. Knowledge of scriptures is meaningless unless you have reason and evidence to believe they accurately model reality.
I could know every word of all seven Harry Potter books, and believe them to be true, but that doesn’t mean I have any actual knowledge that they are true. All I’ll ever have at the end of the day is a book. You take your book on faith alone, and that’s fine, but you must understand that’s not good enough for us here, right?
Quote:It is more than a belief in something, because the Bible encourages people to "add knowledge" to faith.
Again, knowledge of the Bible does not increase the likelihood of it being true.
Quote:The faith that is produced by the word of God is the living presence of God in the life, through the Spirit. It is a lving connection with God, and not just a whim.
I have no rational reason to believe any of that, therefore I can dismiss it rationally, as fantasy.
