A stray picked up by our contacts in Guadalajara he was terribly underweight and had a bad wound on his back leg. They've been nursing him back to health. He gets neutered tomorrow in Mexico and will be flying to Phoenix on the 19th.
We've got a nice foster home all picked out for him where he can rest and recover... and be spoiled rotten... while our vets check him over. He's supposed to be 2 or 4. Our vet will cast the deciding vote.
So our vets examined, x-rayed, and finally did a biopsy and bacteriological culture on samples from Bons' ( now renamed "Dandy") leg. Today we got the results. No cancer. No infection. Something caused a the bone to appear mineralized on the x-rays but it may have happened when he was a pup and his body fought it off. In any event, this explained to our vet why he did not even have the decency to limp or exhibit any sigh of discomfort with the leg. He has also gained 15 pounds since this photo was taken in Mexico and was really enjoying the extra meal every day. That will be ending, but life is looking good for Dandy.
