Ya gotta wonder about parents who tell their kids this sort of shit, if that really is how that happened.
"Son, your life is worthless" said no sane mommy or daddy, ever. IDK, maybe I come from an uncharacteristically patriarchal family? The first man is the indispensable man, for better and for worse. In three generations there are four males, four females. Two of us own everything my family does. Just me and a guy in his eighties. Everything he still owns is willed to me. He had to wait for grandchildren. He turned one of his daughters into an effective son out of frustration and still didn't plan to leave her anything. The fact that females carried an entire generation of my family doesn't seem to have amounted to much.
Hell, even the overflow goes to second and third sons. My little sister is the second child and she proved that she;s every bit a man in my family...served, breadwinner for her house, the whole thing...but you won't find her name on anything. My cousin and my (actually) worthless little brothers names are all over all of the shit she maintains - and mine, lol.
