It's objectionable, because it is a lie. Free speech is the one thing that is truly and authentically American, in that it was America that essentially first codified it.
Pence is not giving out about his wife's treatment because it was harsh on her (in fact it was polite and not very vehement), but because he wants all speech personally objectionable to him to be severely censored, if not banned.
I see (or I think I do). When people criticize Christian education, that's free speech. But Christian education itself is not free speech, and responding to the criticism of it is not free speech. Got it.
